Winter Storm Preparations & Topics:
- Twin Oaks always plows the main road, Eagles Nest Trail, FIRST. Side roads come next.
- The POA does not plow individual driveways, just the paved roads within Eagles Nest. They start plowing once accumulation begins.
- Old Beech Mountain Road is a state maintained road, Eagles Nest POA does not have any control over the plowing/maintenance of that road.
- There are times when we stop all incoming traffic at the front gate so the plow team can catch up to make the roads passable.
- There are times when only 4x4 or chains are allowed through. During a snow event, no 2WD or cars without chains can travel the mountain.
- Please plan ahead and have plenty of food and water at your home prior to the storm.
- Please do not assume that the roads are safe and clear just because the snow has stopped falling. If winds pick up and blow snow and temperatures plummet, then salt will be ineffective and the roads will be icy. Plan accordingly and do not assume you will be able to leave the mountain the moment the storm passes, it can take a day or two or even more depending on the storm for roads to be safe for travel.
- If you get stuck on the road, you will need to contact a local towing company. Twin Oaks will try to help where they can, but they are not contracted to tow cars out on their own and their primary purpose is to plow and treat the roads. Some of the local companies are: High South Wrecker: 828-898-4473; Teaster's Towing: 828-898-4788; Bud's Towing Services: 828-733-5254.
- The timing of this storm will likely impact Sunday morning check-outs, please know that the plow team does their best to keep up but for those of you with renters in your home or renting a home here yourself, your renters or you may have to delay leaving the rental home that morning if the roads are not passable, please contact your rental management company as needed to arrange late check-outs if necessary. Lisa Bender has been in touch with the rental companies as well.
- Please stay off the roads if you don't need to be on them, it's much easier for the plows to safely clear the roads with less traffic.
- Lisa Bender will do her best to post road condition updates and any Grille closures as she receives them on the Homeowners of the Lodges at Eagles Nest Facebook page.
